McElhaney Structural Engineers is a structural engineering firm with special expertise in working with information technology and server technology companies to conduct seismic evaluations that help ensure stable data center ecosystems in support of accreditation and certification, such as The Uptime Institute’s tier certification process. Seismic evaluations can also benefit many other types of industries, including manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, transportation, government, and tribes.
As part of our commitment to safer structures for a hazardous world, McElhaney Structural Engineers analyzes, certifies, and stamps seismic evaluations, provides guidance during the development process, “tunes in” existing structures or designs, and aids in the development of lean infrastructure to help IT and server technology companies be as competitive as possible in today’s global marketplace. Our personalized, “face to face” approach means we work right alongside you and your team during the design and certification phases to ensure optimal outcomes.
McElhaney Structural Engineers’ founder and lead engineer, Brett McElhaney, MBA, MS, PE, SE has a long and impressive history working on the cutting edge of structural engineering as it relates to seismic evaluations. Brett pursued his Master’s degree in structural engineering at the University of Nevada, Reno, where he wrote his thesis while working at the world-famous Center for Civil Engineering Earthquake Research and its Large-Scale Structures Laboratory. Part of that complex is the Earthquake Engineering Laboratory, a 29,000 sq. ft. laboratory, office and auditorium space where earthquake experiments are conducted to engineer safer structures. The Earthquake Engineering Laboratory is home to four earthquake simulators and state-of-the art control and instrumentation rooms. This complex comprises the largest, most versatile large-scale structures earthquake/seismic engineering facility in the United States, according to National Institute of Standards and Technology, and is possibly the largest University-based facility of its kind in the world.
McElhaney Structural Engineers performs seismic evaluations for:
- Historic Preservation
- Industrial buildings
- Manufacturing companies
- Medical campuses
- Renewable Energy
- Warehouse/Logistics facilities
In 2012, there were 303 earthquakes registering 4.0 or higher in the United States alone.
